Yuma High School’s girls basketball team heads to Haxtun on Tuesday looking to add to its win total.
The Indians earned their first win of the season Friday at Caliche, 60-15. They are now 1-6 overall, 1-3 in Lower Platte Activities Association play.
After shooting 16-percent in a heart-breaking two-point loss to Merino on Thursday, the Indians finally broke into the win column in a big way Friday at Caliche. They shot 46 percent, making 26 of 56 attempts, including 24 of 49 on two-point shots.
Yuma raced out to a 13-4 lead, then really turned it on in the second quarter with a 20-2 advantage for a 33-6 lead at halftime. The Indians led 56-12 after three quarters. The second half was played under a running clock.
