It is Homecoming Week at Yuma High School.
The festivities began Monday night with a bonfire in the sports complex parking lot. Tuesday was PJ Day, and there was a free movie that evening in the Commons. Wednesday was Tourist Day for dress-up. There was a class sidewalk decorating contest in front of YHS. The evening featured the always-popular Class Volleyball in The Pit.
The dress up theme today, September 29, is Adam Sandler Day. Casino Night will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. in The Commons. Students can try their hand at popular casino card games, or play various board games and other activities. Pizza and drinks will be available for purchase. The event is only for YHS students.
The volleyball team will be out of town that evening competing at Limon. The cross country runners should get back in time, though, as they compete in Wray at 4 p.m.
Friday is a big day with home athletic contests and the crowning of the Homecoming King and Queen. It is Red and White Day. There will be a Homecoming Pep Rally in The Pit at 3 p.m.
A Homecoming Tailgate will be held in The Commons from 4 to 6:30 p.m. The classes and NHS will serve meals and desserts for the community to enjoy. Prices for meals will vary but mostly should be between $5 to $8.
Volleyball matches against Wiggins begin with the JV playing at 4 p.m., followed by the Varsity. The C-team match will be the last.
The football game against Wiggins is set to kickoff at 7 p.m.
