Yuma High School’s wrestlers barely hung on to their perfect dual record, Tuesday night in Wiggins.
The Indians topped the Lyons Lions by the barest of margins, 33-32. The result of the Wiggins match was not available.
Yuma found itself trailing Lyons 28-0 when Louden Blach got Yuma on the board with a forfeit win at 170. Kevin Hermosillo followed with a win by fall (2 minutes, 44 seconds) at 182. Kallen Blach got a forfeit win at 195, as did Jose Ruiz at 220. Brandon Mendoza then picked up a 57-second pin at 285. There were double forfeits at 106 and 113, and John Smith got Yuma its final points with an 8-1 decision at 120.
Lyons had a strong run, winning on the mat at 132, 138, 145, 152 and 160 before Yuma got on the board. Lyons finished the match with a pin at 126.
Yuma’s wrestlers are at Brush on Saturday for matches against the Beetdiggers and Platte Valley.
